Emergency lighting is a generic term for stand-by lighting and safety lighting, which in turn is subdivided into safety lighting for escape routes, anti-panic lighting and safety lighting for workplaces which are subject to extraordinary danger. Minimum values are specified for planning and installation in DIN EN 1838.
The objective of safety lighting is to enable personnel to reliably stop potentially dangerous work processes and avoid hazardous situations in the event of a power failure, to get to a place at which an escape route can be clearly recognized as such and to use it in order to safely exit the building or leave the area. Stand-by lighting makes it possible to continue activity in an unchanged fashion.
Due to the minimal illuminance value of emergency lighting ranging from 0.5 to 5 lx, the classified MAVOLUX 5032 B USB should be used, which has a resolution of 0.01 lx in the smallest measuring range and automatic display illumination. Luminance and contrast of actively luminous safety signs can be measured with the MAVO-SPOT 2 USB.
