According to the latest research results, retinal ganglion cells in the eye synchronize the sleeping-waking cycle to the day-night rhythm via hormones. Color temperature and brightness changes which occur during the course of the day play a decisive role in this respect.
By matching indoor illumination to the natural daylight progression, or by creating special conditions, various effects can be achieved such as synchronization of the sleeping-waking cycle to the day-night rhythm, activation and enhancement of concentration, increased motivation, reduced tiredness, initiation and optimization of relaxation periods, improved mood and strengthening of the immune system.
